Outcomes
The system aims to educate people around what their energy consumption means, whether it is good, bad or maybe just okay. Through suggestions and a directory of places to make use of, S.A.S. hopes to passively change user behaviour to go towards creating a more aware and efficient society.
By forming a database of previously unrecorded information, the idea is to provide an administrative body and the public with valuable information around energy use statistics. At a glance, anyone will be able to determine which areas are using the most energy, and which are saving where they can. It will be easier to determine which areas perhaps are not recycling enough, indicating that a recycling programme may be necessary in the area. It will also be possible to see which areas are the least educated around topics of energy efficiency and sustainability, indicating a need for programmes to rectify this.
The main outcomes of S.A.S. are:
- Awareness
- Efficiency through passive behavioural changes
- Education around energy consumption
- Residential energy use database
- Area based statistics
- Highlight areas needing improved infrastructure
- An integrated system
