Why WDC 2014
The eyes of the international design community are all on Cape Town for the year ahead as the city takes on its role as World Design Capital for 2014. It is an exciting time for the design community with a line up of 450 recognised projects, all contributing in some way to the year ahead.
Our project was lucky enough to be selected as one of these recognised projects, opening doors to many possible opportunities that we plan to make full use of. The WDC platform is an excellent means for networking and promoting ourselves to possible partners, investors, people who would like to be involved in any small way and also to the general population, our target market. We hope to be able to connect with like minded people who will be able to assist us to take our project further. Being on the WDC program of official projects challenges us to make sure that we deliver on the first phase of our implementation plans within the year as an active part of WDC.
Beyond the year of 2014 and WDC, our project is one that can grow in size over time in terms of the services involved, project scope, businesses involved, quantity of users and areas covered. Initially small, the system will grow to encourage a sustainably aware society, improving living conditions and the state of the surrounding environment.
We aim to be a part of the legacy of projects that continue once the year passes. So remember our project hashtag, #WDC609, because we hope that you will be seeing a lot more of us in the future.
